Anto Tomasini naît à une époque d’espérance à Bastia et grandit auprès d’un père poète. Citoyen de l’Île de Beauté, il entretient, comme tout insulaire, une passion pour l’histoire et les paysages de son île, ce qui développe très tôt sa sensibilité artistique et le pousse à vouloir exprimer les émotions qu’il
puise dans le décor riche et lumineux de la Méditerranée. Dessinateur de formation, il mêle dessin technique et artistique dans un cabinet d’architecte et ne se met à la peinture qu’à la fin de ses études.
